Title:  The Blue Ribbon Jalapeno Society Jubilee

Author:  Carolyn Brown

Genre:  Chick Litcarolynbrown

Publisher: Sourcebooks

Release Date:  March 5, 2013

My Rating: 4 of 5 Stars

Summary:  The women of the Blue Ribbon Jalapeno Society in Cadillac, Texas are smart and sassy and don’t miss a beat – not to mention that they grow the spiciest peppers in all of Texas.  After Anna Ruth is voted into the group, a whole series of crazy things start happening.  Best friends Marty, Cathy and Trixie are in the thick of it,  and old Aunt Agnes is leading the pack on stirring up a whole hornet’s nest of trouble – and she’s not even in the group!

Review:  This is wonderfully fun, lite read for a rainy afternoon.  The characters are absolutely vibrant and fun loving.  We have Darla Jean, the hooker turned preacher.  Violet, the bitter and manipulative society matriarch.  Jack is everybody’s sweetheart, and the three best friends are fun-loving and sassy.  Aunt Agnes is the real show stealer at every corner.  I have never read any of Ms. Brown’s romance offerings and was pleasantly surprised at this one.  I found myself laughing out loud more than once, and anticipating what the next crazy thing would be.  Because there was always something else.  The story was mostly character driven and oh what characters!!!!!

I was wondering if there might have been some inside jokes in this book for readers of Ms. Brown’s steamy romance series.  One of the characters is even an author of erotica – unbeknownst to her friends who are fans!

Very happy to have had a chance to read this one.

Recommended for lovers of Chick Lit and fans of Ms. Brown’s other romance series.

Note:  I was provided a copy of the book by the publisher.  All opinions expressed are my own.

I started reading “I Love this Bar” today – curious about your other writing, although I’m not a huge romance reader. I did love this book and will be recommending to all my chick lit girls as soon as it drops!
